As I'm sure you've read umpteen times we had a radio pilot on Radio Scotland in January and again in August. Well, it looks unlikely that there will be any more episodes made. So if you never heard it or want to have a copy for yourself, you can now download the show as an mp3 from this RapidShare link.

Off to a Good Start
Thanks to all the folk who tuned in to our show last night and listened on the iPlayer. We're currently "most popular" on the BBC Radio Scotland iPlayer page.
If you haven't listened in already, please give it a bash.

Glue on the IPlayer
I'm assuming no more than a few folk stayed up to after midnight to hear our show.
Here's how to listen to it at a more Godly hour.
I'm very pleased with how it sounded and listened to some of the other Zone stuff before hitting the hay and despite blithering a lot of fairly incoherent rubbish about Armando Iannucci at one point, I think we can off no' too bad. Who knew Tom had a posh telephone voice eh? :)
I know Tom said in his earlier post to head along to The Comedy Zone Site to listen to the show, but that seems from my experience to play the whole 330min(!) Zone on a constant loop, so if it's our show you want to hear, I'd recommend using the Iplayer instead.

And Now, News of the Inevitable Cock-Up...

Hiya. Of course its us, so there's been some last minute Glue shenanigans. Nothing to do with us really but it all still somehow serves to make your tubby muckers Fizzy and T Bone look like right plums.
Our radio pilot "The Magic Glue" has been taken out of it's 11.30 am slot scheduled for Friday 9th January and as far as we're aware its also not going to be on as advertised in the 8.30pm repeat slot on Saturday 10th. No news on why or even if it will be rescheduled as yet.
The show WILL STILL BE ON (we're told...) in the Comedy Zone at half past midnight Friday Night/Saturday Morning and should be available on the BBC IPlayer and its listen again online facility thereafter.
So, it's a big hello to all you truckers out there...

Glue on the Radio
The wait is finally at an end. The Magic Glue, our radio pilot, is on Radio Scotland (92.4 - 94.7 FM and 810 MW) this Friday 9th January at 11.30am. Yes, that's right Friday MORNING. I've already had a few folk asking if I meant PM. I don't, I mean 11.30AM.That is not the only time you can hear the show however. You can also hear it repeated at 8.30pm the following day, Saturday the 10th.
But you don't have to listen to it on the radio. You can also hear it online. It's repeated as part of The Comedy Zone at 00.30am that night. This show is available online for a week afterwards. The Comedy Zone is about five hours long, but The Magic Glue should be right at the start of it. The rest of the shows in the section have been selected based on suggestions by Fraser and I. Plus we'll be presenting it, so even more chances to hear our voices on the radio.
You can listen to the show on digital radio, through freeview on your telly and probably for a week afterwards on the iplayer. The many ways to listen to Radio Scotland can be found at this link.
There's a Facebook event thing that you can add your 'attendance' and comments to if you're on Facebook.
We were delighted with the recording itself and we're pretty happy with the edit of the show. So we'll just sit back and see how it's received or not by the public at large.

Magic Glue Recording
I don't think the Glue pilot recording could have gone any better. Several people said to both Fraser and I that it was the best they'd ever seen us. I don't think it was our best ever performance. For one thing we had scripts to refer to, but it may well have been the best night in the 3 year history of Glue.We had a full house at The Stand, who lapped up our two top class warm up acts. Scott Agnew went through his usual tales of the rough and tumble of homosexual activity before launching into his infamous 'shite volley' story. Sandy Nelson's routine varied from the life of the metrosexual to deconstructing an intellectual book on how to think for yourself before closing on a song. I have to say though I think the thing he did that I enjoyed most was his soundcheck song.
The first 100 through the door got a free drink, with Robert ex-of the Mart and his pals getting the last 3, and Gordon of my most recent creative writing class being punter 101.
The audience couldn't have responded any better to our performance, finding the whole thing funny in pretty much all the places we wanted them to.
A great night all in all.

Glue Photos
In a bid to prove that we have perfect faces for radio we had photographs taken last week. They were done by the talented Heidi Kuisma and you can see more of them and indeed more attractive photographs here

Magic Glue Press

This was from the Evening Times yesterday. We had professional photographs done on the Monday night, but too late for inclusion in Thursday's paper. The photo of Sandy illustrates the article fine though, don't you think?
Still places available in the audience for Wednesday's recording. We should have a good turn out, so if you want to come along for your free laughs just put your name and how many tickets you want in the comments section and your name will be down on the door on the night.

The Magic Glue
So here it is, the exciting You Owe Me Glue based news that practically no one is waiting for. Radio Scotland have comissioned a pilot from us. It's being recorded at The Stand in Woodlands Road on Wednesday the 23rd of July. And you can come see it happen! And! It's free!
At the moment we're not sure how you can get in, if it's going to be a ticketed affair or names on a list. When we've sorted that out we'll post it on here and elsewhere. As well as the recording of the half-hour pilot we'll probably be doing a few other sketches and there will also be one or two supporting comedians before we get going. And maybe free drinks. One free drink. Mibbie.
Oh aye and it's called 'The Magic Glue' and not You Owe Me Glue. So see yeez there.

Apart From the Football
How's anyone managing to do anything else other than watch football with this great European Championships on the go? I've managed to find time for little else but of what I have done...
In the great Indiana Jones debate I'm in the 'It's good' camp. Great fun from beginning to end. Some people are saying it 'wasn't very realistic'. You mean like the first 3 Ken Loach directed Indiana Jones films?
Gone Baby Gone might well be the film of the year. Who would have thought that Ben Affleck could co-write and direct such a thought provoking, magical piece of cinema? Casey Affleck also proves he's one of the best young actors around and there's a great supporting cast including the always excellent Ed Harris and Amy Ryan, unrecognisable from her role as Beadie Russell in The Wire.
I also managed to see You Owe Me Glue's favourite cheeky chappy Dazza play the lead in RSAMD's The Tempest. And good he was too. Although it's about time he started getting some comedy roles. If anyone gives a fuck anymore there's big YOMG news in the offing soon, but then if you are interested you probably know what it is already.
Photographs from the third annual Fizzy Birthday Barbecue this weekend are here and a handful of photos from the West End Festival parade are here.

GUM Glue
I've only just discovered this is online, but I did an interview with Glasgow University's Magazine a couple of months ago about the business of comedy. Here it is. Don't worry they spoke to more than just me.

The End of the Comedy Festival
Last night was the final night of the Glasgow Comedy Festival. This year was the first one in the last 4 that YOMG haven't done anything. We're not kicking ourselves over it. It's debatable how much good it would have done us, though I'm sure it would have prompted us to write a couple of decent sketches, but anyway, although there was no Glue I decided to get involved this year and help out on a few shows.
I met more people this year than I had any year I was actually performing. I got to know some comedy folk much better and made a few new pals along the way. Even although we weren't on I still had a lot of people telling me how much they like YOMG.
I've had the odd testing experience over the course of the three weeks, not least having to hold up Jim Jeffries' sold out crowd as I fumbled around to put sound on his show's climactic DVD. Then after the late show someone nicked it out the machine.
As previously blogged Glenn Wool was outstanding, a real lesson in how to perform comedy and work a room. Bruce Morton, Paul Tonkinson and Stu Who? all put in excellent shows.
However the undoubted best thing at the festival for me was last night's Limmy's Show at Oran Mor. I laughed throughout 80% of the 100 minute running time. And when I wasn't laughing I was eagerly anticipating the next laugh. Limmy looked like he was having fun on stage and I think that proved infectious for the audience, although to be honest a lot of people in the room were acting like Santa was about to come down the chimney before the show started.
His material is really inventive and he worked the audience like an old pro. This show is also where I made my only performing contribution to the festival. A couple of weeks ago I went out with Limmy and shot a video in the Botanic Gardens which formed part of the show. I did enjoy the couple of people round about me doing a double take when they realised I was the guy on the screen. As I was sitting down the front I was asked to stand up and take a bow, which I sheepishly did.
From there I went to the last night show at Agenda, which was a really good night. I think it's now almost passed into folklore already, but Bruce Morton setting the string on a balloon alight and then telling a joke in French while it burned up and popped was the moment everyone was talking about. Scott Agnew replicating it later in Alan Anderson's kitchen was just as entertaining, even if not everyone found that to be the case.
So all in all I've enjoyed it even although my performing contribution was somewhat limited. My set of photographs over the three weeks can be found here.

Glue in Edinburgh
We're back doing You Owe Me Glue very soon. We're doing a short spot at the Ramshorn Theatre on Friday the 21st of September then we've got our own show at The Stand in Edinburgh on Tuesday the 16th of October.
There will be a good bit of new stuff in the October show, though no doubt rushed rehearsals. No idea how much it'll cost cos the whole thing's a wee bit hurried. But why not come along and see us if you're in Edinburgh? We'll be funny. We promise.
