So What The Bloody Hell Are You Wearin’?

Don’t know if anyone spotted this, but it would appear that Qantas believe themselves to be in a position to tell people what they can think say and wear on their flights.

This from an airline serving a country that swears at you in its tourist ads.

I weep for the future (milky tears), and I’ll tell you something else –these buggers won’t be flying me to Australia any time soon.

Can't say I entirely agree with you on that one Fraser. Although I agree with this guy's tee-shirt, it's clear he's deliberaty trying to antoganise those around him. Chances are, the people Qantas are trying to help out would be the innocent by standers getting caught next to a pro-bush arrogant type and having to listen to them rant. This guy knew good and well his tee-shirt is will cause issues. These days, passengers want to just get from point A to point B with minimum of fuss, moral stances like this should be left on the ground. Freedom of speech and being a pain in the arse are generally seem to go hand and hand sometimes.

Hey Ben! I agree that the guy was being a tossbag to make a point, but he's being a tossbag to raise a point about an illegal war that is killing thousands, which is quite important. You can’t say the apathetic majority that allow this to happen in all our names deserve peace and quiet. They don’t. They need to be jolted awake from time to time.

It’s a bit rich to say that we don’t deserve travel disruption and don’t want to listen to people arguing when our tax dollars/pounds are killing people in their own country. It doesn’t really compare as far as I’m concerned.

Also, I’m not really sure why you think freedom of speech is ok on the ground, but suspended when airborne. If this idea was applied, despotic regimes could simply herd their people into vast balloon cities and avoid international sanction.

You might have come up with something there dude!

Anyway, hope things are going great for you. Any plans to come back and visit us?

Well no firm plans yet. But my fiancee and I are thinking of moving to spain in 2008. She's mexican, so fluent in spanish, I'll try and learn. But hopefully you all still have the cheap flights around Europe.
