Back to His Best...

Here’s a good story from The Guardian’s media section about how Guy Ritchie’s latest film Revolver has managed to manipulate a positive press quote onto its poster, despite every reviewer across the board hating it.

I went to see it last week and it does have the germ of a decent film in there somewhere. Jason Statham is a decent lead, Ray Liotta is menacing enough, though he spends much of his time in his leopard skin briefs. Andre Benjamin is the stand out though. Better known as Out Kast’s Andre 3000 he pulls off a charismatic bad guy (or is he a good guy).

I dunno why Guy Ritchie thought he’d turn expectations on its head by attempting to mix the gangster genre with David Lynch style surrealism. He doesn’t really pull it off.

When it ended I wasn’t quite sure if it had finished or not and the dawning realisation among the audience that the end was upon us, was met by a spontaneous round of applause followed by shouts of “Pish!”
