Here’s a film that has caught my eye. The Squid and The Whale stars a hirsute Jeff Daniels and the always excellent Laura Linney as a couple divorcing in 1986 Brooklyn. It also stars William Baldwin and the gorgeous (oh aye and talented) Anna Paquin.Playing one of the couple’s two children is Jesse Eisenberg. He was terrific a couple of years ago opposite Campbell Scott in Rodger Dodger.
The film was produced by Wes Anderson and is written and directed by Noah Baumbach, who co-wrote The Life Aquatic with Mr. Anderson.
It comes out in the US this week, so who knows when we’ll see it over here. It’s a nice website too.
