Like No Other…

You may have already seen this wee film, which is being used to advertise Sony's new LCD TVs.

This to me is what’s wrong with the human race in microcosm.

Look what we can do. Look why we do it.

Fraser, I quite like this wee advert. I'm quite sure that I'm wrong and I'm also sure you'll tell me why, but nonetheless, I found it pretty and fun.

Is it really what's wrong with the human race in a microcosm?

Yes. It's a perfect example of someone whoring their creativity to a company who encourages people to waste their money on stuff they don't really need.

Creativity and the creation of beautiful artifacts like this film are what make us human. It is in essence the point of being alive. We however have turned the point of being alive into grabbing as much as we can for ourselves. Creativity and the creation of art has become a means to an end.

Hence the microcosm remark.

Oh, okay, so it's not the advert that's what's wrong with the human race, it's the people who commissioned it. Okay, I understand now. Your blog made it sound like you were disgusted with the advert.

Yes, you're right. I knew you would be after all.
